GOOD TO KNOW

A few useful answers.

Does an IFSC have a checksum?

An IFSC uses a prescribed character pattern: four bank letters, a zero and six branch characters. The checker validates that pattern and searches for the matching branch record.

What if the code is not found?

Check the spelling or use the finder to search by bank, state and city. The directory’s source and release details are linked below the form.

Is MICR the same as IFSC?

No. MICR is a separate code associated with cheque processing. Where the source provides a MICR value, we display it separately on the branch page.

Which branch details can I find?

Branch pages show the bank, address, city, state, MICR and payment-system details included in the directory.
