A LITTLE CONTEXT GOES A LONG WAY
How to use this tool.
01
Start with available cash
Opening cash is the amount available at the start of your forecast, not your sales or accounting profit. Add expected receipts in the month you expect to receive them. A sale invoiced in March but paid in April belongs in April’s cash inflow.
02
Place payments in the month they leave
Include supplier payments, subscriptions, payroll, loan repayments, tax payments and one-off purchases in the relevant month. Enter totals in one currency. If you operate across currencies, translate amounts using your own planning assumptions before entering them.
03
Read the closing balance
Closing cash = opening cash + cash in − cash out. Each month’s closing balance becomes the next month’s opening balance. A negative month-end balance highlights a funding gap in your assumptions. A positive month-end balance does not rule out a shortfall earlier in the month; use a finer schedule for tight periods.
No. It follows the timing of actual cash movement. Non-cash expenses, revenue recognition and other accounting adjustments are not calculated.
Can I model scenarios?
Yes. Change your inputs and generate another forecast. Download each scenario as a CSV before changing it; the page does not retain previous versions.
Are my entries saved?
No. Your entries stay in this open page and reset when you refresh or leave. There is no account, autosave or cloud storage. Download or copy what you need before closing the page.
