A LITTLE CONTEXT GOES A LONG WAY

How to use this
tool.

01

Enter the complete quote

The exchange rate is destination currency per one source currency: for USD to EUR, a rate of 0.90 means one dollar converts to 0.90 euros. Enter the percentage fee, fixed source-currency fee and destination-currency fee for each quote. No live rates or provider fees are fetched.

02

Follow the order of operations

Source fees = gross source amount × percentage fee + fixed source fee. The percentage fee rounds to the source currency’s smallest unit. The remainder is converted at your rate and rounded to the destination currency’s smallest unit, then the destination fee is deducted. For example, USD 1,000 less a 1% fee and USD 5 leaves USD 985. At 0.90 EUR per USD, this becomes EUR 886.50 before any destination fee.

03

Compare on the same basis

In Amount received mode, both quotes start with the same source amount. In Target receipt mode, the calculator finds the smallest source amount that meets the requested destination receipt under each quote’s entered rules. Providers may apply fees in a different order or use different rounding, so enter a comparable quote and check its terms. Unentered intermediary fees, taxes and rate changes are outside this calculation.

GOOD TO KNOW

A few useful answers.

Where do the rates and fees come from?

You enter the rates and fees for each option. The calculator applies them to your transfer amount and compares the estimated amount received.

Does the reverse calculation simply add the percentage fee?

No. A fee charged on the gross source amount requires a larger adjustment. The tool searches in source-currency minor units for the minimum amount that reaches the requested receipt after the entered fees and rounding.

Are my entries saved?

No. Your entries stay in this open page and reset when you refresh or leave. There is no account, autosave or cloud storage. Download or copy what you need before closing the page.
