What is a US routing number?
A routing transit number, also called an ABA routing number, is a nine-digit identifier used in US banking. It identifies an institution or routing arrangement; it is not the recipient’s account number.
Are ACH and wire routing numbers always the same?
No. Some banks use the same number for both, while others publish a separate wire number. Use the payment-specific instructions supplied for the recipient’s account.
Why is my bank missing?
The directory covers selected routing numbers from bank and credit-union publications. Each record links to its source. The checker also accepts nine-digit numbers outside this collection for format validation.
Where can I find my account’s routing number?
Look in your bank’s authenticated app or online account details, on a statement or check, or in its receiving instructions. For wire transfers, specifically request the wire instructions.
